Join us for the 3rd Annual Amazing Race for Charity - September 25
On your mark! Get set! GO! Rogers County Young Professionals is proud to present the 3rd annual “Amazing Race for Charity”. This event combines elements of the CBS network reality show, The Amazing Race with local flair for an exciting urban and rural race through Rogers County. Teams of two participants race across the county visiting famous landmarks and various locations while completing a variety of tasks and challenges along the way. Teams will race against the clock deciphering clues as they navigate their way through different challenge sites, relying on their teamwork and navigation skills to complete the course in the least amount of time. 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams receive a trophy, all participants receive an Amazing Race t-shirt and everyone has chances to win great door prizes. In the end, our Special Olympic athletes are the real winners. Proceeds will help sponsor the athletes in Rogers County that compete in the Special Olympics. Competitors 16 years old & older and of all fitness levels can enter this fun filled day. If you think you’ve got what it takes and want to participate in the most exciting event of the year grab your friends, work colleagues or family and get ready to race!
Thank You for Attending Our 2009 Event!
This year RCYPO, with the help of participants, volunteers and local businesses donated $1,600 to the Rogers County Special Olympics softball team, the Wildcats. The Wildcats will use the funds toward the team’s expenses for the Oklahoma Special Olympics games. This is the second year for the RCYPO to help with funding for the Wildcats to be able attend their state games
This year’s winning Amazing Race team consisted of Immediate Care co-workers who competed with the team name of “Please Pee in This Cup.” Team members included Jake Stout, Jena Greer, Debbie Hendrix and Amanda Wade. The second place team, “Cardinal Chicks,” were a group of mothers who attend the Spunky Creek Church. Team members consisted of: Becky Scott, Leslie Black, Jennifer Dorse and Jamie Newhart. “The Incredibles” were the third place team. Team members work at Claremore Regional Hospital and were Julie McGoffin, Vicki Pelky, Christine Day and Bob Anderson.
Challenge locations this year included: Claremore Recreation Center, Marker Down Pub, Hard Rock Casino, DW Correll Museum, Gordon Golf Course, Will Rogers Downs, Oak Hills Winery and Claremore Mountain Bike Trail.
The event is based on the popular CBS show, featuring clues guiding teams throughout Rogers County where they complete challenges to get a clue to the next location. Teams consisted of four individuals over the age of 16 and have included families, co-workers and friends. The event provides the opportunity to work together, compete against others and see the sites of Rogers County.
The RCYPO would like to thank the numerous sponsors, challenge locations, volunteers and participants, who without them, this event would not have been possible.
